She Was A Witch

The old woman had a story to tell. A story of witchcraft as she understood it. A story of witches hiding in shadowy caverns. A story of black slaves chained together. A story of her mother's madness and the murder she committed.

And her mother, they said, was a witch.

This is a story set in the nineteenth century, of how a mother and her daughter struggled to learn the secrets of medicine and of the injustice done to them by men who claimed they were witches.
